No vampire needs to free roam. It does not matter what breed it is, no vampire should free roam. You are putting yourself and your neighbors in serious danger by not keeping your Gangrel indoors and properly caged. He should be happy if he has a large enough enclosure with plenty of hides without needing to be outside where he can prey on moles and squirrels and potentially become too much for you to handle. This is not a joke. This is not to be taken lightly. Am I clear?

Eh, actually Grels are an exception to the rule. They’re borderline hybrids, so even the small ones need a lot more room than your typical Drac or NF. I think I remember something about the bloodline being specifically tailored to pack bond when I went to a panel at the big expo last year, so they have very low escape rates unless they sense something that’s a threat to their “pack.” So, in this case, Ginger’s kind of in the right.

But, Ging? You’re going about it all wrong. Mirriam is right that salt and holy water isn’t going to keep him in if he sees a mailman or whatever and decides it’s a threat. Holy water evaporates fast, especially in the kind of heat we’ve been having on this side of the world, and salt blows away easily. Personally, I’ve heard of free-range Grel owners using barriers of garden stones because Grels are really susceptible to having to stop and count things spilled in front of them. That’s usually adequate distraction to round them up and stop them from fleeing. The good news is that they can’t fly, either, so you don’t have to net the top of your yard.

The safest thing, though, would be to have a lead. Mechanic-tier chain so it doesn’t break. If it can’t tow a truck, it can’t hold a Grel. Never leave your Grel unattended if you have to let them off the lead for any reason, too. Mirriam is right about the free feeding, even if this breed is much easier to keep contained.

And girl. You know you shouldn’t let him out in the sun. Batty For Bats gets kickbacks for all of the stuff they advertise. It’s not very effective at all. You’re asking for Yuki to get a nasty burn.
